In January 2018, Julie’s grandfather was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was gone for long periods while getting treatment and missed out on Julie’s concerts, recitals and weekly visits.
MORE LIFE
After a long, hard fight, her grandfather passed away in January 2019. Julie wrote a beautiful and touching goodbye letter to him. She actually read it to him in the hospital hours before he passed. Watching her was poignant and painful
In those months, Julie watched her grandfather, who lived such an active life, endure many obstacles with cancer. And she wanted to do something for others who are also facing this disease.
When she gave the bags out personally, the patients were so deeply touched. Many cried and it was such a meaningful experience watching our daughter connect on such a deep level with strangers.
Julie got to see and hear firsthand just how impactful it is to give to others, and I think the experience will stay with her and move her to act accordingly for the rest of her life.
